Sliplining is generally considered as the installation of a smaller diameter pipe into a larger diameter pipeline.

At Tenbusch, we design and manufacture sliplining systems for the installation of medium to large diameter utility pipes. Our innovative sliplining machine design offers several advantages:

  • Space-efficient design minimizes the required size of the insertion pit,
  • Sliplining machines are designed to push pipe in both forward and reverse directions,
  • Modular design allows a single machine to install a large range of pipe diameters,
  • Robust heavy duty design and manufacture allows thrust capacities up to 200 tons,
  • Sliplining equipment is all hydraulically driven,
  • Remote operation and control units with digital thrust recording are available.

We work hard at Tenbusch to provide high quality sliplining machines and systems that are efficient, productive, and cost effective. Integral remote control and data acquisition capabilities are available options for our sliplining systems. This allows, for example, the display and logging of thrust force in real time for inspection and review.

Sliplining Systems

Sliplining Machines

Our sliplining machines provide an effective and innovative solution for sliplining contractors. Our sliplining machines are designed with the following features:

  • High thrust capacities (up to 200 tons),
  • Space effective design that minimizes the insertion pit size,
  • Pushes pipe in both forward and reverse directions,
  • Hydraulically driven from remote hydraulic power unit (HPU) - located outside of the insertion pit,
  • Modular frame design and interchangeable push adapters allow a single machine to install a large range of pipe shapes and sizes,
  • Remote operation and control of the machine is an option,
  • Digital thrust data monitoring and recording is an option.

Sliplining Systems

Prover Mandrels

Testing mandrels - called “prover” mandrels - are extremely valuable tools, especially when sliplining old brick and poured in place structures. Our mandrels are custom built to the same size and shape as the pipe used in the sliplining process. The passage of the mandrel through the existing pipe structure will ensure that the new pipe can be installed without stops or delays.

We design and manufacture custom prover mandrels. Features of our prover mandrels include:

  • Tenbusch mandrels are configured to allow the passage of the existing flow stream,
  • Tenbusch mandrels can be pulled in the forward or reverse direction,
  • Our mandrels are optimized to have high strength to weight ratio.

Sliplining System

Pipe Shields and Push Adapters

We design and manufacture sliplining pipe shields and push adapters.

Tenbusch pipe shield features:

  • Protects the leading edge of the new installed pipe string,
  • Reduces the thrust force necessary to install the new pipe,
  • Minimizes the chances of any obstructions disrupting the installation process.

Tenbusch sliplining push adapters are used to uniformly transmit the thrust of the sliplining machine to the new pipe column being installed. The following are features of our sliplining push adapters:

  • Each push adapter custom build to the shapes and size of the new pipe,
  • Push adapter evenly distributes thrust over the new pipe cross-section,
  • Easy to install and remove the push adapters from the sliplining machine.

We build hydraulic power units that are designed for sliplining operations. Our hydraulic power units are designed to provide continuous and reliable power to your equipment. Typical features of our HPU's include:

  • Robust protective frame for rough tunneling job environments,
  • Electric motor or combustion engine power source,
  • Multiple pumps for main, auxiliary, and filtration circuits,
  • High capacity hydraulic reservoirs matched to underground equipment applications,
  • Controls to match your requirements and appropriate monitoring equipment and gauges.
